Mike Young
Mike is passionate about the southwest and the uplands and canyons surrounding the Four Corners. Fascinated by deserts at any elevation, he has been a commercial boatman and hiking guide throughout the intermountain west for 30 years. Mike was an adjunct instructor of math and geology at Yavapai College for 16 years, where he was also a guide and instructor of natural sciences, geology and politics of the Colorado River for Lifelong Learning and Elderhostel trips. Employing a mixture of topics including botany, natural history and geomorphology, he brings the southwestern landscape into focus. Mike contributed the geology chapter in Hiking the Grand Canyon: A Sierra Club Totebook
